We have been using ours with quality decaffeinated / decaf coffee from the supermarkets as well as Moccano Cappuccino Mix, Aurora Espresso grind coffee, Nestlés Coffee Mate and Cadbury's Hot Drinking Chocolate. All have worked well but there are so many other possibilities when you are filling your own.

The capsules are made of polypropylene, which is a high quality plastic used in the medical and food industry for resisting heat. 100% BPA free and 100% recyclable (after you are finished with them).
